GLYCOLIC ACID changes your skin

Glycolic acid acts by removing dead cells and impurities on the surface layer, thanks to its exfoliating action: thus it promotes cell rejuvenation and renewal.

The most common acid-based treatment is peeling - both for the face and for the body - which is performed at beauty centers or by the dermatologist and is used to renew the epidermis, eliminating dead cells.

How it works

Once applied to the skin, it acts by weakening the lipid bonds between the cells of the epidermis: this action facilitates their removal.
Today it is known with certainty that the main cause of skin aging and the formation of wrinkles is sunlight. Continuous exposure to ultraviolet rays produces enormous damage to the dermal level on the collagen on the elastin, which becomes more evident year after year.

The characteristic signs of photo-aged skin are deep wrinkles, yellowish coloring, enlarged pores, zonal redness of the skin, roughness to the touch, loss of elasticity, dryness.

Before and after photographs of Glycolic Acid (AHA) treatment unequivocally demonstrate that continued use of Glycolic Acid helps to reduce wrinkles and improve skin elasticity. From a scientific point of view, the physiological process leading to this observation is not very clear. At least 2 factors are considered responsible for this property.

One factor is the ability of Glycolic Acid to penetrate epidermal and even dermal tissues, increasing skin hydration with consequent improvement in appearance and texture.

The second factor is the property of Glycolic Acid to thin the stratum corneum which gives the skin a rejuvenated appearance.

The use of products with Glycolic Acid helps to maintain the youthful appearance of the skin for longer. In addition, Glycolic Acid is supposed to increase the amount of collagen and elastin.
